Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff's Office consists of deputies and civilian personnel in three major divisions: Administration, Court Services, and Corrections. We maintain the custody, care, control and movement of inmates; serve civil and criminal processes and court orders; maintain security for court facilities, judges, jurors and other trial participants.

Sheriff’s Office Donates to Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program
The Hampton Sheriff’s Office continued its proud partnership with the Salvation Army’s community programs for the 6th consecutive year. Hampton Deputies Raise $3,510 for Special Olympics
The 29th Special Olympics Polar Plunge was coordinated as a virtual event due to the COVID pandemic. The event was held because thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities remain isolated and overlooked. The funds raised will provide year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities, and health services to 23,000 athletes.

World renowned speaker Andre Norman facilitates Deputy Retreat
Sheriff K. Bowden took huge steps to provide offsite training to 40 Hampton Deputies in the form of a retreat facilitated by world renowned motivational speaker, Andre Norman. Mr. Norman is the founder of The Academy of Hope, #1 Prison Success Story. The retreat gave Deputies the opportunity to express the challenges and rewards of the job with their peers and to draw possible solutions.

Sheriff's Office Provides Gifts of Thanks to Seniors - Adopt-A-Senior Program
The Hampton Sheriff Office’s Adopt-A-Senior program provides a wellness check for a number of senior citizens in Hampton. With COVID-19 restrictions, regular personal visits are not possible, so Sheriff Bowden coordinated the creation of a holiday gift for the nearly 40 seniors. "We can’t thank them enough for the sacrifices they have made to benefit our Hampton community," said Bowden.

Hampton Sheriff's Office Partners for Children through Reading
The COVID-19 pandemic required event planners to think out of the box during the holiday season. Reading initiatives were coordinated by the Mayor's book Club and Coliseum Central to create the holiday spirit for children at home.

Col. Bowden Celebrates Dr. Seuss's Birthday
In Celebration of Dr. Seuss's Birthday, Col. K. Bowden, undersheriff, reads "Wacky Wednesday" to Ms. Rajpaul’s second grade class at Barron Fundamental School during Read Across America Week in March 2020. After the reading session, Col. Bowden pinned each student to serve as Junior Deputies for the day.

Exchange Club Honors the Hampton Sheriff's Office
The Wythe Exchange Club hosted a dinner and awards ceremony in February 2020 to recognize their community partnership with the Hampton Sheriff's Office. Club members presented awards in recognition of the outstanding accomplishments of Hampton deputies in 2019. Pictured are Col. K. Sheriff's Office Celebrates Easter with Seniors and Children
Deputies dropped off stuffed Easter bunnies from the Easter Bunny Foundation to the Downtown Hampton Child Development Center, Healthy Families Partnership and CHKD Surgery Center and CHKD Pediatrics to find a home for the bunnies. In addition, deputies and staff bought flowers and cards to accompany the bunnies as they placed them on the doorsteps of 2 dozen members of the Hampton Sheriff’s Adopt A Senior program. Pictured: A. Hampton Deputies Volunteer for Red Kettle Campaign
Hampton Sheriff Deputies showed their support of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign in December 2020 as they volunteered to staff an eight-hour shift at the entrances of the Walmart Superstore in Hampton.
