Pickleball

Pickleball is an indoor or outdoor racket/paddle sport in which two players, or four players, hit a perforated hollow plastic ball over a 36-inch-high net using solid-faced paddles. Opponents on either side of the net hit the ball back and forth until one side commits a rule infraction.

This program will teach rhythmic yoga movements and stretches for core strength. Join us as we practice meditation skills that will allow stress to leave the body while learning practices of mindfulness.

Teetotalers and Moonshiners, and Hampton’s Prohibition Story

The exhibit combines content from the Virginia Library’s 2017 exhibit “Teetotalers and Moonshiners: Virginia’s Prohibition Experiment” with research and artifacts from the Hampton History Museum on the local experience. "Hampton's Prohibition Story" features myriad items to tell the story, including dozens of photographs; numerous bottles, jugs and other containers; games, smoking accoutrements, beverage dispenser, signs and materials of saloon culture; service ware, promotional items and memorabilia from Point Comfort resorts, Phoebus police and fire department items, doctor bag and instruments; and moonshine still components on loan from the Museum of the Albemarle. The exhibit continues through February 4, 2024.

Prohibition Legacies: Taste of Summer

In conjunction with our exhibition, “Teetotalers and Moonshiners, and Hampton’s Prohibition Story,” we’re highlighting local establishments catering to today’s beer aficionados. As we enter summer, a trio of Hampton breweries, St George Brewing Company, Oozlefinch Beers & Blending, and The Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery, bring their latest releases in anticipation of the coming season. Registration is by phone. To secure your spot, call 757-727-1102. Entry is limited to 150 guests.
