Teetotalers and Moonshiners, and Hampton’s Prohibition Story

The exhibit combines content from the Virginia Library’s 2017 exhibit “Teetotalers and Moonshiners: Virginia’s Prohibition Experiment” with research and artifacts from the Hampton History Museum on the local experience. "Hampton's Prohibition Story" features myriad items to tell the story, including dozens of photographs; numerous bottles, jugs and other containers; games, smoking accoutrements, beverage dispenser, signs and materials of saloon culture; service ware, promotional items and memorabilia from Point Comfort resorts, Phoebus police and fire department items, doctor bag and instruments; and moonshine still components on loan from the Museum of the Albemarle. The exhibit continues through February 4, 2024.

Dockside Seafood Feast

Kids First - Court mandated 4-hour class - Saturday

This 4 hour workshop provides information that can help parents understand what their children experience when their lives are reorganized by divorce, separation and family conflict. It will guide parents in making informed decisions about parenting plans as they transform thier relationship from couple to co-parents. (Satisfies Virginia Legislative requirements for child custody and visitation disputes)

Sheriff's Office recruitment fair

The Sheriff's Office will host a recruitment and hiring career fair on Saturday with interviews on-site at the Circuit Court Building, 237 N. King St. Do not bring cell phones, weapons or children, but do bring your driver's license, Social Security card, proof of high school graduation or GED, and your DMV driving record. Full- and part-time positions are available, including deputy, transportation officer, nurse and dental assistant. Anyone applying for deputy positions should dress comfortably for an agility test; others should dress in business attire. Registration is from 8-9 a.m.

Disco Ball Prom

DISCO BALL PROM - Join us this Saturday, May 20 from 6 to 8:30pm for a groovy time at The Hampton Therapeutic Recreation Center. Come socialize and dance with peers at our Disco Ball Prom! This program is for participants ages 13 and up with disabilities. $5 for individuals and $7 for couples! Location is 4315 Kecoughtan Road!
