    Grab your best running shoes and tell a friend! Virginia Peninsula Community College is hosting its Inaugural Community Day 5K on Saturday, October 1, 2022. We are excited to bring our community, students, and alumni together for this fun filled-family friendly event. We are prepared for a morning of connecting wellness and fun. This race has something for everyone from elite runners to walkers. Come walk/run and join the fun! Proceeds from the race will be used to meet the College’s areas of greatest need, such as student emergencies, faculty support, research, technology upgrades, and growing academic programs. Be a powerful part of providing our institution with the resources and support we need to continue making a positive impact in our community.

Guests walk through the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic Periods and experience for themselves what it was like to be among dinosaurs of all kinds. Jurassic Quest is the only interactive dinosaur event that has over 100 true to life-size animatronic dinosaurs in each of its indoor touring shows from the very small to the gigantic. Jurassic Quest exhibits also allow future paleontologists to dig up fossils, ride their favorite life-sized dinosaur, enjoy walking dinosaur and baby dinosaur shows, and enjoy a dinosaur-themed play land in addition to face painting, crafts and much more. Jurassic Quest produced 96 multi-day events in 34 states and Canada selling over one million tickets in 2022.

  6. Barktoberfest

    Barktoberfest is a festival celebrating all things dog and more. It will feature the band Lost Soul Society, who describe themselves as a “funky, Reggae, Rock band.” In addition to music, there will be the Bow-Wow Beer Garden and craft brew tastings. Games include costume contest with cash prizes, plus games for dogs and a talent competition. There will be canine and pet CPR demonstrations plus a host of vendors and artisans. Local animal rescue organizations will be on hand. The pet-friendly festival raises money for pets and programs at the Peninsula SPCA.

  7. Five Alarm Festival

    This family-friendly festival features firefighting equipment, fire safety information, and for the children: a bounce house, an obstacle course, face painting, a balloon artist and more. The festival and refreshments are free! Don't forget to meet Pyper, Hampton’s accelerant-detecting dog! One major goal of the festival is to bring awareness to the dangers of fire and to promote fire safety through educational and preventive activities. Cooking is the leading cause of home fires and home injuries, followed by heating fires.
