    September 15, 2021, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Hampton Coliseum

    The Red Cross is holding blood drives on Aug. 25 at Hampton City Hall and on Sept. 15 at the Hampton Coliseum. The City Hall blood drive will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The Coliseum blood drive will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. To get more information about the blood drives, visit www.redcrossblood.org/give.

  1. International Coastal Cleanup

    September 1, 2021 - October 31, 2021

    Sign up for the International Coastal Cleanup from Sept. 1-Oct. 31 by registering to clean up a location of your choice. For more than 30 years, the International Coastal Cleanup has been rallying communities with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastlines. Since the cleanup started, millions of volunteers worldwide have collected more than 340 million pounds of trash. Cleanup equipment — like litter sticks, safety vests, gloves, and trash bags – are available for those in Hampton who do not have their own equipment.   1. Hampton Carousel

    After being closed for over a year due to the pandemic, the Hampton Carousel opens for the 2021 season on June 1 with COVID protocols. Located in Carousel Park and operated by the Hampton History Museum, the former Buckroe Beach carousel is one of the City of Hampton’s most treasured historic assets. Built in 1920, the carousel is completely restored to its original beauty and housed in its own weather-protected pavilion at Carousel Park on the city’s downtown waterfront. It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S. Hand crafted by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park, Hampton's Carousel is a whirling tribute to the skill of its creators. The Hampton Carousel will operate under federal, state and City of Hampton COVID-19 protocols. Guests will be required to wear masks when inside the carousel building, practice social distancing, and use hand-sanitizer before and after rides.

  2. Brackish Water Jamboree - Virtual Concert

    Tune into the Hampton History Museum's Facebook page to view on Facebook Live: https://www.facebook.com/HamptonHistoryMuseum Known for an eclectic mix of foot-stomping bluegrass, old-time folk and classic Americana featuring guitar, fiddle, clawhammer banjo and upright bass, Brackish Water Jamboree performs all original music (and a few staple standards) that echo classic country, upbeat Appalachian fiddle tunes, ragtime blues, the Bakersfield sound, and more. Brackish Water Jamboree is Paul Edward on vocals, banjo and guitar; Joseph Custer on vocals, mandolin, guitar and banjo; Taylor Vertrees on bass; and Amanda Beason on fiddle. After the event airs on Facebook Live, it will later be uploaded onto the museum's YouTube playlist and www.hamptonhistorymuseum.org.
