  1. 'Covid Aftermath: Addressing Mental Health' forum on Facebook Live

    July 6, 2021, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Facebook Live

*Rescheduled from June 29* Covid-19 cases have decreased dramatically, businesses have reopened, and vaccinated people aren't wearing masks. But for people struggling with depression, addiction or other mental health issues spurred by Covid, life isn't getting back to normal. Mayor Donnie Tuck will host a forum with local experts to discuss the effects of Covid on mental health. Residents who may be suffering — or know someone who is — can learn how to get help. Members of the public are invited to pose questions to the panel: Anthony Crisp, director of addiction and recovery treatment services at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board; Dr. Bruce Copeland, coordinator of social work services for Hampton City Schools; and Betsy Clark, children’s services administrator for Hampton's Human Services Department.

    June 1, 2021, 11:00 AM - October 18, 2021, 8:00 PM
    Carousel Park & Hampton Carousel

Take a Spin Back in Time! Located in Carousel Park and operated by the Hampton History Museum, the former Buckroe Beach carousel is one of the City of Hampton’s most treasured historic assets. Built in 1920, the carousel is completely restored to its original beauty and housed in its own weather-protected pavilion at Carousel Park on the city’s downtown waterfront. It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S. Hand crafted by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park, Hampton's Carousel is a whirling tribute to the skill of its creators. The Hampton Carousel will operate under federal, state and City of Hampton COVID-19 protocols. Guests will be required to wear masks when inside the carousel building, practice social distancing, and use hand-sanitizer before and after rides.
