    Downtown Hampton is ecstatic to kick off our first Live at the Docks event with the Brasswind Band! Brasswind brings back the classic horn band sound and look that's been missing for quite some time, with songs from The Tower of Power; Chicago; Earth, Wind, & Fire; James Brown; The Temptations; Buddy Miles; Michael Jackson; and more.

Community Centers - Fox Hill

  1. Fox Hill Neighborhood Center open house

    June 5, 2021, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Fox Hill Neighborhood Center

    Fox Hill area residents will again have a neighborhood center when the new center officially opens Saturday, June 5. Located in the former Cornerstone Church at 65 Hall Road, the center will open for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. and stay open for tours and visits until noon. Only half of the center is actually opening. After city officials and the neighborhood group cut the ribbon on the renovated main building, they will officially break ground on part two of the center: A gymnasium.

Hampton History Museum

  1. Hampton Carousel

    After being closed for over a year due to the pandemic, the Hampton Carousel opens for the 2021 season on June 1 with COVID protocols. Located in Carousel Park and operated by the Hampton History Museum, the former Buckroe Beach carousel is one of the City of Hampton’s most treasured historic assets. Built in 1920, the carousel is completely restored to its original beauty and housed in its own weather-protected pavilion at Carousel Park on the city’s downtown waterfront. It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S. Hand crafted by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company for the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park, Hampton's Carousel is a whirling tribute to the skill of its creators. The Hampton Carousel will operate under federal, state and City of Hampton COVID-19 protocols. Guests will be required to wear masks when inside the carousel building, practice social distancing, and use hand-sanitizer before and after rides.

    Healthy Families invites all expectant parents to come and attend our Saturday LAMB Workshop which is designed to calm your fears and prepare you for the challenges - and delights - of parenthood.   2. HERE! Attendance Improvement Workshop

    Better attendance leads to a brighter educational future for all students! Healthy Families along with Hampton City Schools provides 90-minute, interactive workshops for family members who need to help their student's attendance. If a student has three (3) or more unexcused absences, taking one of these workshops will help to redirect students toward school success. Families may either volunteer to attend a workshop or can receive a referral from their school. attending may result in a one-time, no more than two (2) absences forgiveness. Certificates will be provided once workshop is completed. All Hampton City Schools provide support and information for families regarding attendance concerns.

    Hampton Therapeutic Recreation and Hampton Athletics Department partner with Special Olympics Virginia each year to provide athletics programs that engage and empower individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through the power of sports, Special Olympics Athletes discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Hampton (Area 30) is part of the Peninsula Region of Special Olympics Virginia. Hampton Therapeutic Recreation is currently accepting registration for Special Olympics Spring Track & Field. Participants must be 18 years or older to register. No fee required.
