    Come out and enjoy free refreshments, music, raffles, and more at the Community Explosions: Summer in the City celebration. You can even get your Covid-19 vaccination – Saturday, May 1, at the Y.H. Thomas Community Center, 1300 Thomas St. Hampton is working with the community center, the Y.H. Thomas Athletic Association, faith-based leaders, local law enforcement, and various community organizations to present the Community Day Celebration. The goal is to engage with residents and to build relationships in Hampton neighborhoods. The fun starts at noon. For more information, call the 3-1-1 Citizen Contact Center at 757-727-8311.

Healthy Families - Education Classes

  1. HERE! Attendance Improvement Workshop

    May 1, 2021, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM

    Better attendance leads to a brighter educational future for all students! Healthy Families along with Hampton City Schools provides 90-minute, interactive workshops for family members who need to help their student's attendance. If a student has three (3) or more unexcused absences, taking one of these workshops will help to redirect students toward school success. Families may either volunteer to attend a workshop or can receive a referral from their school. attending may result in a one-time, no more than two (2) absences forgiveness. Certificates will be provided once workshop is completed. All Hampton City Schools provide support and information for families regarding attendance concerns.

    The Buckroe Beach Farmers Market is open each Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., May 1 through Oct. 30. Themed market days are May 22 (Fitness Day), Sept. 25 (Pet Day), and Oct. 23 (Vintage Market). Themed market day hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. There is no market on May 29 (Memorial Day weekend), June 5, July 3, July 17, Aug. 28 and Sept. 11. Vendors will be located on the grassy area surrounding the Buckroe Beach gazebo and will sell local produce, baked goods, sausage, seafood, jarred food items and more.
