    The annual Hampton Arts League Member Exhibition presents the artwork of The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center’s artist member organization. Last year’s open exhibition included 223 artists exhibiting one artwork apiece. The diverse exhibition showcases the talented and unique artists who reside and work in Hampton Roads, and support and advocate for The Charles H. Taylor and Hampton Arts. Emerging and established artists, all whom work in a variety of media, are represented. Presented annually are the James Warwick Jones Best in Show Award ($750), the Beverly Levinson Award for Craft or Folk Arts ($500), and First ($500), Second ($250) and Third Place ($100) Awards. For the 2020 Hampton Arts League Exhibition, we are pleased to announce award-winning artist, educator, and the preceding manager for The Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center, James Warwick Jones will be selecting the winners for the exhibition.

  2. The Storyweavers

    Join us for the return of The Storyweavers to the Great Hall stage! This talented group, whose beautifully crafted songs connect to the audience, debuted their CD "Fallen Sparrow" at the museum in August 2018. They are currently working their latest album. Band members Sheela Fortner, Linda Gale Poole, Beth Whyle and Jennifer McLaughlin blend Americana, folk, blues and funk into an original soulful sound with music inspired by their life stories. American Sign Language performance artist Jennifer McLaughlin ensures that the message of The Storyweavers can be enjoyed by all, and ASL interpreter Annie James assists in moving between the two languages. Admission is free for museum members, $5 for non-members. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. The Hampton History Museum is located at 120 Old Hampton Lane in Downtown Hampton.     Better attendance leads to a brighter educational future for all students! Healthy Families along with Hampton City Schools provides 90-minute, interactive workshops for family members who need to help their student's attendance. If a student has three (3) or more unexcused absences, taking one of these workshops will help to redirect students toward school success. Families may either volunteer to attend a workshop or can receive a referral from their school. attending may result in a one-time, no more than two (2) absences forgiveness. Certificates will be provided once workshop is completed. All Hampton City Schools provide support and information for families regarding attendance concerns.
