  1. Voices That Vote online watch party

    Voices That Vote, an artistic online gathering about the journey of your voting rights, will be on Facebook live Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 6-6:30 p.m. Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck and Gregory T. DeCinque, interim president of Thomas Nelson Community College, will provide an opening greeting and talk about the importance of voting. You'll also get to enjoy musical performances by Donald Hurdle (Soul and R&B); Donavan Devlin (inspirational/contemporary); and Missunderstood (Pop and R&B). You can register online for the bipartisan Voices that Vote, or watch it live on the Citizens' Unity Commission's Facebook page. Voices that Vote is part of a series of new online broadcasts entitled "Just for GP, the Community Speaks," which was created by Thomas Nelson Community College, the City of Hampton and the Good People Group. From 8-10 a.m. you can join police at the McDonald's restaurant, 1101 West Queen St. At the same time, you can join police at the Wawa, 301 East Mercury Blvd. National Coffee with a Cop Day is designed to promote open dialogue between police and residents, break down barriers and build a bridge to better relationships. If you have a chance, stop by and join the conversation.
