  1. Nominate a senior for Senior Citizenship of the Year Award

    September 1, 2019 - November 1, 2019 @ Senior Center

Did you know one of Hampton’s most valuable resources is its senior population? The Hampton Senior Citizens Advisory Committee along with Hampton Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services, Hampton Health Department, Hampton Department of Human Services, and the Peninsula Agency on Aging Inc. will celebrate and honor seniors, ages 70 and up, for their valuable contributions to the community. Seniors are vibrant, spirited and caring individuals. We are looking for seniors who have enhanced the community to include engagement with others, volunteerism, and selfless acts of service in the community. If you know any deserving seniors, please nominate them at the link. There will be a celebratory luncheon Dec. 2 at the Senior Center.

  2. 18th Annual Day of Remembrance and Hope

    September 11, 2019, 8:30 AM @ Gosnold's Hope Park

Local citizens will gather to read aloud the names of all those who were lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and the names of fallen heroes in Iraq and Afghanistan. This event continues a tradition that dates back to more formal Days of Remembrance and Hope ceremonies held from Dec. 11, 2001 to Sept. 11, 2014, and more intimate events in recent years. Reading the names is simple, yet somber. For more information or to volunteer, contact Angela Leary at angelaleeleary@gmail.com or call 757-660-1249.
