Some works in this exhibition are very personal while others tell more universal stories – some familiar, some new. From artist John J. Moore’s carved wood sculpture and dioramas depicting famous and infamous scenes that shaped African American history and culture to artist Anthony Hurt and artist, art educator, and musician Jackie Merritt who both bring their own unique stories and journeys into their creative expression. The Opening Reception will feature music and hands-on storytelling activities for the public. Legacy and Stories is a very special and important exhibition to begin our 2019-2020 Visual Arts Center Season.
