  1. Grandview Beach nature trail access closed

    July 8, 2019 - July 12, 2019 @ Grandview Nature Preserve and Factory Point

    The nature trail access to Grandview Beach Nature Preserve is getting a facelift, but the work will close the trail weekdays until mid-July. The access will remain open on Saturdays, Sundays and the long Fourth of July weekend (July 4-7).

    Youth Volleyball Camp is a one-week camp July 8-12 for boys and girls age 7-11. Options are morning or afternoon camp. Registration is due by 5 p.m. June 28. Return registration form to the Parks and Recreation Athletics Office, 125 Franklin St., Hampton, VA. The camp is coordinated by Coach Margaret Aleman, former professional volleyball player with 7 years' coaching experience. Call 757-726-8750 for information.

    The Hand and Foot card game is a game, which is often compared to Canasta. The objective of the game is to get rid of the two sets of cards in your hand, known as the hand and the foot. Each player is dealt a hand of cards. In the center of the table is a face-down pile of cards called the stock and a face-up pile called the discard pile. Come learn to play if you don't know how.

    “A Taste for the Beautiful” showcases the works of numerous artists that have attended Hampton University, and have been influenced directly and indirectly by African culture. This show includes works by guest artists Kwabena Ampfo-Anti, Chinedu Okala, and Solomon Isekeije, who provide powerful visual statements that relate to HUMA’s African Gallery and Dr. William H. Shepherd’s extensive collection of Kuba artifacts. These artists work in a variety of styles and media; this show aims to provide them long overdue recognition.
