  1. Waiters Race

    July 28, 2019, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Downtown Hampton at Queens Way

    The Waiters Race, presented by Sysco, returns for its fourth year. Competition will begin at 2 p.m. with Colonial DJ. Big change this year, the race is on Sunday, not Saturday. Foodservice professionals race through a series of obstacles holding a loaded tray of Stella Artois, attempting not to spill a drop! Prizes: Individual Division - 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $500, and 3rd Place $250; 4-Person Team Division - 1st Place $1,200, 2nd Place $600 and 3rd Place $400 and traveling trophy for your restaurant. There's also an Owner's Division - Bragging Traveling trophy. Wear your restaurant shirt or bring ID for proof of employment. Registration is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. All registration fees will be donated to No Kid Hungry. For advance registration, call 757-727-1271. Food & beverages will be available for purchase.

  2. Monthly Bike Cruise — Waterwalk

    July 28, 2019, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Cold Stone Creamery

    We are back to our regularly scheduled monthly cruise in July. Join us as we ride portions of the Waterwalk at Central Park Trail for this month's Sunday Cruise with Bike Walk Hampton. We plan to start and end at Cold Stone Creamery, so we can grab ice cream after a warm ride. Bikes + ice cream = summer! Bring your family and take a casual ride with us through another Hampton neighborhood. Parking is available on-site. Ride begins at 5 p.m. Please arrive beforehand and be ready to leave on time.

  3. "A Musical Journey: Spirituals & Gospel Music"

    July 28, 2019, 6:00 PM @ Hampton Baptist Church

    Roy L. Belfield Jr., minister of music and organist at Hampton Baptist Church, outlines the origins of African-American spirituals and gospel music in “A Musical Journey: Spirituals & Gospel Music." The program is hosted by Hampton Baptist Church in partnership with the Hampton 2019 Commemorative Commission in observance of the arrival of the first Africans in English-speaking North America in 1619. Belfield has made Hampton and its surrounding cities home following extensive study that earned him a bachelor of arts in music from Morehouse College, master of music education and master of music in organ from Florida State University, and a doctor of musical arts in organ from University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music.
