  1. Life's a Beach Triathlon

    June 8, 2019, 6:00 AM - 11:30 AM @ Buckroe Beach and Park

    Head to Buckroe Beach for the seventh anniversary of the Life’s a Beach Triathlon. The triathlon is expected to draw more than 500 participants. Life’s A Beach encourages people to “catch the new wave of triathlon,” with its take on a sport most people often associate with grueling training regimes and expensive, high-tech equipment. The Life’s A Beach swim is 200 yards of “Almost Anything Goes,” with racers allowed to use boogie boards, swim fins, mask and snorkels, water wings, and almost anything else to help them feel comfortable and have fun. There will also be a free Hatchling Dash Kids Run.

  2. Buckroe Beach Farmers Market

    The Buckroe Beach Farmers Market is open each Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., May 4 through Nov. 16. June 1 is a fitness market, Sept. 21 will be vintage-themed, and Oct. 19 is a pet market. Vendors will be located on the grassy area surrounding the Buckroe Beach gazebo and will sell local produce, baked goods, sausage, seafood, jarred food items and more.

    Presented by The Sankofa Projects, this day honors the millions of African men, women and children who perished during the Middle Passage of the transatlantic slave trade. Join The Sankofa Projects as host as they educate and celebrate the richness and diversity of the African diaspora and bring awareness to this tragic chapter in American and global history. The program will include traditional African drumming, songs, dance, poetry, historical presentations and a traditional African libation.

The Downtown Hampton Block Party has become a summer series of massive community get-togethers on Queens Way for partiers and families who enjoy live outdoor music, complete with a children's area, food trucks, drink kiosks and vendors.

  1. That’s Funny: Art with a Sense of Humor

    Art doesn’t always have to be serious. It can also be funny, droll, comical, playful, silly, whimsical, farcical, witty, satirical or humorous. This group exhibition will present about 120 artworks in all media by the Gallery Manager’s invited artists whose works display a sense of humor. The curator may also consider artworks from other interested artists. Works will include a wide range of media in two, three or four dimensions including traditional art forms as well as cartoons, comic strips or books and videos.

Hampton History Museum Carousel Schedule

It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S.
