    The nature trail access to Grandview Beach Nature Preserve is getting a facelift, but the work will close the trail weekdays until mid-July. The access will remain open on Saturdays, Sundays and the long Fourth of July weekend (July 4-7).

    Friday's show features the first appearance of megastar Maxwell. Longtime performer Tamia will sing her unique blend of soul/R&B that will have Festival patrons cheering for more. Najee with special guest Eric Roberson will provide the smooth jazz that Hampton attendees can't seem to get enough of. Opening the Friday night show will be Tidewater powerhouse Ashley Felder. Saturday night will feature two of the Hampton Jazz Festival favorites: KEM will bring his smooth neo-soul while Anthony Hamilton brings the straight ahead R&B to the stage. Smooth jazz artists Will Downing and Maysa will set the stage for jazz and romance! Relive the good 'ole days of music with the Bar-Kays! Sunday features the king of R&B, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly! Also appearing is another superstar - Babyface - singing his unique brand of soul that will certainly thrill the audience. Ledisi will return as well as smooth jazz icon Gerald Albright - this time with his vocalist daughter, Selina.

    “A Taste for the Beautiful” showcases the works of numerous artists that have attended Hampton University, and have been influenced directly and indirectly by African culture. This show includes works by guest artists Kwabena Ampfo-Anti, Chinedu Okala, and Solomon Isekeije, who provide powerful visual statements that relate to HUMA’s African Gallery and Dr. William H. Shepherd’s extensive collection of Kuba artifacts. These artists work in a variety of styles and media; this show aims to provide them long overdue recognition.

    Take a ride on Hampton's antique wooden merry-go-round for just $1. Tickets on sale at the Hampton History Museum and at the Carousel. Call 757-727-1610 for more information. Built in 1920, the carousel is completely restored to its original beauty and housed in its own weather-protected pavilion on the city’s downtown waterfront. It is one of only 170 antique wooden merry-go-rounds still existing in the U.S.
