  1. CANCELED — Bike Month: Words on Wheels

    May 5, 2019, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Sly Clyde Ciderworks, Phoebus, and Fort Monroe

    Tour Downtown, Phoebus, & Fort Monroe for Words on Wheels! This self-guided event is open to all skill levels and will begin & end at Sly Clyde Ciderworks. Teams will collect letters from participating businesses and return to play a word on oversized game boards. The goal is to build a word with the highest point value. Are you game? A prize will be given to the team that spells a word of the highest point value. Teams may be of any size and configuration; however, the prize will be given out in a 4-pack. Parking: available on the street or in public lots on County and Lancer streets.

Citizens Unity Commission

  1. Nominate for Unity Awards

    Hampton’s Citizens’ Unity Commission is accepting applications for the 2019 Unity Awards, which will be presented on Friday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. in The American Theatre, 125 E. Mellen St. The awards celebrate the accomplishments of the commission and acknowledge people who have made positive contributions toward diversity and inclusion in Hampton. To learn more about the commission, or to nominate an individual, business or initiative for the Unity Award, please visit www.hampton.gov/unity. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 20. The free awards ceremony on June 7 is sponsored by the Citizens’ Unity Commission and the Unity Awards Sub-Committee. For more information, email Latiesha D.     "Civil War Journey" is an extraordinary touring exhibition organized by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Eyewitness accounts and images from the Civil War memoir of Union soldier, cartographer, and Confederate prisoner of war Robert Knox Sneden are showcased in an exhibition of 45 watercolor maps and drawings that provide a unique and mesmerizing perspective on the Civil War. The exhibit opens Nov. 3, 2018.
