    Mid-Atlantic Power League Volleyball is a power league for elite girls’ volleyball teams along the Mid-Atlantic coast. The Hampton tournament kicks off the league's season. Some division matches over the weekend will be at the Hampton Roads Convention Center, 1610 Coliseum Drive, and some will be at the Boo Williams Sportsplex, 5 Armistead Pointe Parkway.

  3. Hampton Arts League Open Members Exhibition 2019 opens

    January 27, 2019, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center

    This annual exhibition features artwork by many of the 300+ Hampton Arts League Members in all media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, crafts, sculpture, and watercolor. Artworks in a wide range of styles, content, and sensibilities will be included. As an open exhibition, it will include established artists as well as young or emerging artists. Cash awards totaling $850, including $500 First Place, $500 Beverly Levinson Award, $250 Second Place, and $100 Third Place, five Awards of Merit and five Honorable Mentions will be selected by judge, Richard Ward. Ward received his BFA and Art Education Certificate from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1982 and his MFA degree from Howard University in 1997.

    Join us in Elizabeth Lakes for this month's Sunday Cruise with Bike Walk Hampton. Bring your family and take a casual ride with us through another Hampton neighborhood. The temperature is predicted to be around 45 degrees with a light breeze, so put on a jacket and come take a spin. The ride will leave from Booker Elementary School. Parking is available on-site. Ride begins at 4 p.m. Please arrive beforehand and be ready to leave on time.

    "Civil War Journey" is an extraordinary touring exhibition organized by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Eyewitness accounts and images from the Civil War memoir of Union soldier, cartographer, and Confederate prisoner of war Robert Knox Sneden are showcased in an exhibition of 45 watercolor maps and drawings that provide a unique and mesmerizing perspective on the Civil War. The exhibit opens Nov. 3, 2018.

Hampton Clean City Commission

  1. King Street cleanup

    January 27, 2019, 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM @ King Street, from 2 West Pembroke Ave. to 701 North King St.

    Volunteers from the International WeLoveU Foundation in partnership with the Hampton Clean City Commission will clean a 1-mile stretch along North King Street. The volunteers aspire to provide a cleaner environment. The effort is part of WeLoveU’s Clean World Movement, a campaign to raise awareness about environmental protection in the face of climate change.

    Jobs are for Hampton residents ages 16-24, who will work 20 hours per week with the city, a non-profit or business. Earn $1,500, plus skills, training, worksite materials, uniforms, etc. Businesses can also apply to host an intern.
