  1. Civil War Journey: The Maps and Sketches of Private Robert Sneden exhibit

    "Civil War Journey" is an extraordinary touring exhibition organized by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Eyewitness accounts and images from the Civil War memoir of Union soldier, cartographer, and Confederate prisoner of war Robert Knox Sneden are showcased in an exhibition of 45 watercolor maps and drawings that provide a unique and mesmerizing perspective on the Civil War. The exhibit opens Nov. 3, 2018.

  2. Miniatures and Small Works by Tidewater Artists

    January 18, 2019, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM @ Charles Taylor Visual Arts Center

    More than 250 artists living in Hampton Roads were invited to create miniature or small artworks in any media. Miniature two-dimensional works were required to be no larger than 20 square inches; 4 by 5 inches for example. Small two-dimensional works were required to be no larger than 80 square inches. The resulting two-dimensional and three-dimensional works compose a total of more than 350 artworks. Media represented include drawing, painting, watercolor, pastel, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and crafts. There is a wide range of styles, techniques, content, imagery and intent. This year, artwork may be removed at the time of purchase.

    Jobs are for Hampton residents ages 16-24, who will work 20 hours per week with the city, a non-profit or business. Earn $1,500, plus skills, training, worksite materials, uniforms, etc. Businesses can also apply to host an intern.
