Citizens Unity Commission

  1. Hampton Diversity College, Level I, takes place May 10-31

    Level I of Hampton Diversity College begins on May 10. Sessions take place once a week for four weeks at the Performing and Creative Arts Center. The Diversity College is a multi-level and interactive educational program that concentrates on increasing knowledge on the value of diversity, unity, and inclusion in contemporary workplaces and in our community.

  2. Movie Talks — 'The Joy Luck Club'

    The Citizens' Unity Commission and the Hampton Public Library partner to create opportunities for citizens to engage in conversations about diversity, unity, and inclusion through movie viewings. The May 29 showing will be "The Joy Luck Club." These events create an opportunity to build new relationships, increase understanding of others, and promote mutual respect.   4. Annual Iftar Dinner — Breaking Bread and Building Bridges

    May 31, 2018, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Northampton Community Center

    The public is invited to the annual Iftar Dinner Program on Thursday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at the Northampton Community Center. Sponsored by the Rumi Friendship Association and Hampton's Citizens Unity Commission, the program's theme is "Breaking Bread while Building Bridges." Mayor Donnie Tuck will be the keynote speaker. The free dinner is an annual gathering of Muslim and non-Muslim citizens to celebrate and learn more about Ramadan, the worldwide commemoration of the first revelation of the Quran to the Muslim prophet Muhammad.
