  1. Civil War Journey: The Maps and Sketches of Private Robert Sneden exhibit opens

    November 3, 2018, 10:00 AM - May 2, 2019, 5:00 PM @ Hampton History Museum

    "Civil War Journey" is an extraordinary touring exhibition organized by the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Eyewitness accounts and images from the Civil War memoir of Union soldier, cartographer, and Confederate prisoner of war Robert Knox Sneden are showcased in an exhibition of 45 watercolor maps and drawings that provide a unique and mesmerizing perspective on the Civil War. The exhibit opens Nov. 3, 2018.

    Blue Skies Gallery is celebrating International Women’s Day, March 8, and Women's History Month with a 15-piece exhibit "Women of Tidewater #WINNING 2019," featuring photography by Patty Locklear of Patty Locklear Photography in Yorktown. The exhibit, spotlighting area women working to empower other women, opens at 2 p.m. March 9 at Blue Skies Gallery. “As women, we sometimes forget to lift up other women in helping them to live their lives to the fullest,” Locklear said. The show, open to the public at no charge during normal gallery hours, will run through April 9. The March 9 opening also is free to all and includes refreshments. Photos in the exhibit will be accompanied by bios of the women. The exhibit is sponsored by Blue Skies Galleries, Patty Locklear Photography, Kelly Digital Marketing, P46 Communications, and Cardwell Printing -- all women-owned businesses.
