    As long as humans have gone to sea in ships, the potential for danger awaits them. Early seafarers had many myths and lore as to what – or who – was responsible for a ship’s demise, including the alluring siren. Today, we know that there are many reasons which may cause a ship to wreck. Erika Cosme from the Mariner’s Museum takes a look at the early connection of sirens luring ships to their death, while examining modern causes for shipwrecks at sea.

"Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and aware of one's own thoughts, feelings, and physical states. At its most basic level, mindfulness is about intentionally paying attention to your present moment experiences, without getting caught up in judgements or distractions. It helps you to notice stressful situations and their impacts much faster and to choose a response wisely to recover much faster. Practicing medication can help you increase mindfulness."
