[ARCHIVED] Silver Isle Boulevard to close for sewer repairs

A temporary repair has been in place since the failure, which was caused by corrosion. Ryan Brewster, North Shore System Manager with the Sanitation District, said the detour on Silver Isle should be lifted late Monday or early Tuesday for part one of the repair work.

Part two will take place later in the week or after the holiday. Brewster said there will be no interruption of service during the repairs. "We're trying to get it done as quickly as possible."

The sanitation district is a political subdivision of the state that serves 17 counties and cities in Hampton Roads. It has a collection system of more than 500 miles of pips and 104 pump stations.
