[ARCHIVED] City Council will learn results of new Disparity Study on Wednesday

Sept. 17, 2014 - City Council will learn the results of a second Disparity Study of Hampton and Hampton City Schools on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at City Hall. The Council meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. on the 8th floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln Street.

The first Disparity Study was completed in January 2006 by MGT of America, a nationally recognized research consulting firm. Since then, the city has implemented several strategies - based on recommendations from the first study - to increase Hampton's use of minority and woman-owned businesses.

An executive summary of the 2006 study is available online.

In 2012, the city commissioned MGT to conduct the second study. MGT's presentation to City Council Wednesday will include an overview of the study methodology, findings and recommendations, followed by questions from Council.
