[ARCHIVED] Hampton forecast remains same: 1-3 inches of rain, winds up to 35 mph

July 3, 2014 - Although Arthur has been upgraded to a category 1 hurricane, the National Weather Service says the forecast for Hampton – 1-3 inches of rain with wind gusts of 35 mph through Friday afternoon – hasn’t changed.

Hampton's Emergency Management Office has been monitoring Arthur since it began forming earlier this week, and updating city department heads on what can be expected.

Public works employees have checked area drains – especially in areas prone to flooding –to make sure they are clear. They have also checked equipment and generators to make sure they’re working.
Police and firefighters are prepared to handle any additional calls due to weather. Other departments are preparing as needed.
