[ARCHIVED] Weather update, Thursday 1/23

Public Works crews have been working around the clock since well before the storm, dropping brine solution and salts to break up ice and snow and then plowing it away. At this time, they estimate that main roads are 90% clear. However, there may be some icy patches so drivers are urged to use caution. Also, neighborhood streets are still icy.
City offices will open at the regular time today.
Trash and recycling collection will resume today, with neighborhoods that were slated for Wednesday's pickup (the routes that are normally Monday collections but changed for the holiday). Thursday's routes will be picked up Friday, and Friday's routes on Saturday.
Virginia Air & Space Center will open at noon. Schools remain closed.
