Planning Commission to consider apartments, extended stay hotel

Nov. 14, 2023 - Hampton’s Planning Commission will meet Thursday to discuss three proposed projects in the Coliseum Central area:

A rezoning and use permit application related to proposed apartments at the former Colonial Downs off track betting site, 1909 Commerce Drive

A use permit requesting an extended stay hotel at the corner of Hartford Road and Marcella Road

A rezoning and use permit for Riverside’s new, first-in-Virginia psychiatric emergency department. The existing Riverside Hospital in-patient facility at 2244 Executive Dr. — including the expansion — are grandfathered in the current zoning. However, the new entrance/waiting area is outside that footprint. The proposed rezoning and use permit would bring the full site into compliance with new zoning changes.

The commission will meet Thursday, Nov. 16, at 3:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers on the 8th floor of City Hall, 22 Lincoln St. The meeting will be aired live on Fios Channel 22 and Cox Channel 47 and streamed live at hampton.gov/livetv The agenda and details can be found here.
