[ARCHIVED] Severe cold weather is moving into Hampton Roads

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a wind chill advisory which will be in effect Tuesday from 3 a.m.-noon for Hampton and the surrounding area.

The city's Emergency Management Office said we could see wind chill as low as zero degrees due to temperatures around 17 degrees combined with winds at 16-21 mph and gusts up to 32 mph.

The cold temperatures may result in frozen water pipes and will be a danger to exposed skin. Residents are reminded that they should wear a hat and gloves if they must go outside. Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation.
