Jan. 20, 2022 - Midyear grants of up to $10,000 are available to nonprofit groups working to better the lives of youth and young adults. The additional grants are part of the Youth Opportunities Mini-Grant Program, which began 2012.

The grant program, titled “Planting Seeds of Change,” aims to fund groups working to create positive activities, services, and programs for Hampton residents between the ages of 14-24. Programs should be designed to to bring about measurable changes in skills, attitudes, or behaviors of participants who often reside in high-risk areas or include risk factors for youth violence. Programs should focus on any of these areas:

• Awareness programs, usually shorter and focus on creating awareness of the impact of violence and trauma and influencing change;
• Prevention programs, longer-term programs that engage young people in recurring activities to promote social skills outside of school hours;
• Intervention program, which work directly with young people in develop strategies to make live changes; and
• Re-entry program, which help young people adapt successfully to life after incarceration.

Organizations can receive a maximum of  $2,000 for awareness programs and $10,000 for prevention, intervention and re-entry services. Grants are  will continue to be offer in spring and fall. Deadline for the mid-year grants is Feb. 20. Details and applications
