[ARCHIVED] City Manager's Message Jan. 20: City closing at 4 p.m., winter weather update

Jan. 20, 2022 — As you know, our area is projected to have a significant winter weather event beginning later today. With the prediction that road conditions could begin to worsen in the early evening, Hampton will close its offices, libraries, community centers, and other public facilities at 4 p.m. today. However, this afternoon’s Planning Commission meeting will be held because the public hearings have been advertised to the public. Employees who are not essential for storm response or Planning Commission will be allowed to leave at 4 p.m. As state officials are advising people to stay off the roads, we want as many employees as possible to get home safely. I also agree with our neighboring communities that members of the public should stay off the roads as much as possible and not be out visiting our facilities.

Decisions about operations on Friday have not yet been made.
