[ARCHIVED] Bringing fun to kids at the neighborhood park throughout the city

Rec and roll newsflash icon

Aug. 2, 2021 - The Rec 'n' Roll Scuttle Bus is coming to a neighborhood park near you throughout August, loaded with fun games and activities for kids age 5 and older. Hampton's Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department is bringing the bus to different neighborhood parks every Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon.

The goal is to give the kids something fun to do, while still following current health guidelines because of the pandemic. Kids will be kept in small groups and they'll practice social distancing. All participants in an activity will be required to wear a mask, and they'll get a USDA-approved bag lunch to take home. Kids don't have to sign up, and they don't have to register. Just come out and have fun!

Here's the schedule for the Rec 'n' Roll scuttle bus (most will be at public schools):

  • Monday, Aug. 9: Bryan Neighborhood Park (1021 North Mallory St.)
  • Wednesday, Aug. 11: Aberdeen Neighborhood Park (1424 Aberdeen Road)
  • Monday, Aug. 16: Armonstrong Neighborhood Park (3401 Matoaka Road)
  • Wednesday, Aug. 18: Machen Neighborhood Park (20 Sacramento Drive)
  • Monday, Aug. 23: Cary Neighborhood Park (2009 Andrews Boulevard)
  • Wednesday, Aug. 25: Tucker Capps Neighborhood Park (113 Wellington Drive)
  • Monday, Aug. 30: Eason Memorial Park (Darling Stadium)
