Go online to find out when you will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine

Jan. 11, 2021 - The Virginia Department of Health has developed a new, quick way for you to find out when you will be eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine, and how you can be notified when the vaccine is ready. Visit this website [hampton.us2.list-manage.com], answer a few questions about where you live and where you work, and you can find out which phase of the vaccination campaign you fall into. You can also sign up to be notified by text or email when your phase is being vaccinated.

The first phase, 1a, includes health care workers and residents of long-term care facilities. Phase 1b will include essential front line workers and people 75 and older. Phase 1c will include "other essential workers" and people 65 and older. Go online for more information [hampton.us2.list-manage.com] on the different phases. Statewide, more than 174,150 people have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 15,130 people have received both doses of the vaccine.  

Since the pandemic began 5,218 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Hampton, with a high of 171 on Sunday. Over the past seven days, the city has averaged 79 new cases daily. Virginia has reported 403,386 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, with a high of 5,798 cases on Saturday, Jan. 9. Over the past seven days, the state has averaged 5,121 cases daily.

State and local officials urge residents to continue wearing masks, to practice social distancing, and to wash their hands regularly to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
