[ARCHIVED] Primary voting on June 23 will be for Republican candidates for House, Senate

May 26, 2020 - Hampton will hold a Republican Party primary on June 23 for candidates for Senate and the 2nd and 3rd congressional districts. There are no contested races within the Democratic Party in these races. All qualified voters are eligible to vote in the Republican primary. Voters are encouraged to vote absentee due to the coronavirus. Key dates:

  • The deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail is June 16, 2020.
  • You can also request a ballot online.
  • Assuming public buildings are reopened from the coronavirus, the registrar’s office will be open on June 20, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Those who vote absentee are NOT required to have a witness’ signature for this primary only.

See two sample ballots. Some Hampton precincts are in 2nd Congressional District and some are in the 3rd Congressional District. The Tyler Precinct is a split Congressional District therefore voters within that precinct may have different ballots depending upon their assigned Congressional District.
