March 31, 2020 - The National Weather Service in Wakefield says coastal flooding is possible for low-lying areas, shorelines, tidal rivers and tributaries in Hampton from late tonight into Wednesday.  Nuisance level flooding could occur into Thursday.  According to the Weather Service:

  • Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low-lying property including parking lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront may experience shallow flooding.
  • Gale force wind gusts are expected over the coastal waters south of Parramore Island and the Lower Chesapeake Bay. These strong winds will lead to hazardous seas of 8-13 feet.
  • Rainfall in Hampton is currently forecast in the range of .5” to 1”.

Hampton’s Emergency Management Office will continue to monitor the situation.
