vote

March 16, 2020 - The Voter Registrar’s office is among those closed to the public to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Residents can continue to register to vote online or by mail.
The registration deadline for the May 5 local election for Mayor, City Council and School Board is April 13. Online applications will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. that day, and applications by mail must be postmarked by that date.
To register online or update your address or other information, go to https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation. To register by mail, download an application at https://www.elections.virginia.gov/registration/voter-forms/ or call 757-727-6218 to have one mailed to you.
Regulations for voting absentee will be loosened for this election. Residents are asked to provide a reason they need to vote absentee, and anyone can list the reason 2A (disability or illness) due to social distancing for coronavirus.
In order for the Registrar’s office to mail a ballot to you, they must receive the absentee application by mail, online, or by fax (757-727-6084) no later than 5 pm April 28th.
If voters have any questions, they can call the registrar’s office at 757-727-6218.
