March 9, 2020 - The Hampton Fire Division, working with Police, Public Works and other partners, will hold a silent Touch-a-Truck event on Sunday, April 19, specifically for children and adults with autism.

And because April is National Autism Awareness Month, Fire has also authorized the sale of special T-shirts that honor and support autism awareness. Fire Chief Jason Monk said proceeds from the sale will be used to support continued education and outreach efforts. You can get a T-shirt by filling out the online form and sending it to Lt. C. Blazek at cblazek@hampton.gov.

In recent weeks, the Fire Division has been training and equipping firefighters to properly - and compassionately - provide services to those with autism. The Touch-a-Truck event is meant to enhance awareness of autism and improve community relations. It will be held on Sunday, April 19, at fire station 9, 1590 Briarfield Rd., from 1-5 p.m.
