[ARCHIVED] Bull Island Brewing Co., Vanguard Brewpub earn top honors at Great American Beer Festival in Denver

Oct. 8, 2019 - Hampton’s Bull Island Brewing Co. won a bronze medal for best “chili” beer and The Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery won a bronze medal for best “extra special bitter” at the recent Great American Beer Festival in Denver. They were among 13 Virginia breweries to medal at the festival, where more than 300 breweries from across the nation were judged in over 100 styles of beer.

A panel of professional judges awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. According to organizers, the awards are recognized “around the world as symbols of brewing excellence.”

Bull Island Brewing Co. proudly advertises itself as Hampton’s Oldest Waterfront Brewery. The Vanguard Brewpub & Distillery is housed in a former National Guard Armory that was built in 1936. Go online for more information about the festival.
