Sept. 17, 2019 - Are you ready to be counted?

Every 10 years, the United States conducts a massive count of the nation’s population, and the results impact all of us at the local, state and federal level. That’s why it’s important for every Hampton resident to be accurately counted in the upcoming 2020 Census. The results determine how much federal money is allocated locally for Medicaid, highway planning and construction, Head Start, and much more. Political representation is also at stake because congressional seats are apportioned based on a state’s population.

While the actual count won't start until Spring, the Census Bureau has already started hiring thousands of temporary workers across Hampton Roads and the nation to help with Census efforts.  Go to www.hampton.gov/census to learn more about Hampton's Complete Count Committee, the importance of the Census, how to find a Census job, and more. You can visit https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census/2020-census.html to learn more about the 2020 Census in general.
