Cooperative Extension providing arboretum tours, tips on having a healthy lawn

Sept. 9, 2019 - Both new and longtime residents of Hampton Roads can find out what to plant or the best way to add to their landscape during the upcoming Arboretum Tours at Bluebird Gap Farm. Once a month – on Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 and Dec. 9 – master gardeners from the Virginia Cooperative Extension will provide themed tours of the farm arboretum. To register, contact the Virginia Cooperative Extension's Hampton office at 757-727-1401, or email Gaylynn Johnson at gaylynnj@vt.edu. The free tours start at 10 a.m. and end at 11:15. More information. Also starting in September, Cooperative Extension master gardeners will perform lawn and landscape assessments for Hampton homeowners. The goal is to help you keep your lawn or landscape healthy. The cost for the 2019 Healthy Virginia Lawns and Landscape is $30, including one soil sample.  Visits take place at the homeowner's residence. Home visits are being scheduled for every other Friday starting Sept. 13, from 9 a.m.-12:30 P.M., through Oct. 25. For more information email Gaylynn Johnson at gaylynnj@vt.edu or call 757-727-1401.
