Sept. 2, 2019 - Hurricane Dorian is quickly moving north into the Carolinas and could reach Hampton Roads as a Category 2 storm as early as Thursday afternoon with sustained winds of 34-45 mph and gusts of 60 mph. The National Weather Service said moderate coastal flooding is predicted, with major flooding possible in some areas. A statewide evacuation would likely be by zone, with Zone A being the lower coastal areas.

Residents are encouraged to go online to find your evacuation zone based on your street address. You can also view a zone map at www.hampton.gov. A hurricane watch Tuesday afternoon extended to Duck, N.C., with additional advisories likely to be issued later Tuesday or early Wednesday.
