July 26, 2019 - Hampton's Emergency Management Office has a new CERT class starting Sept. 12. Sign up now for four weeks of training on everything from disaster preparedness to light search and rescue.

Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. until about 9 p.m., with a final practice Oct. 8.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their community. It also teaches basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can help others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available. Classes will be held at Fire Station 11, in the Hampton EOC, at 1304 Big Bethel Road. Classes may be relocated or rescheduled if an emergency occurs.
