[ARCHIVED] Hampton home sales, average price continue to climb in April

May 13, 2019 - April was another good month for home sales in Hampton, according to sales data reported by the Real Estate Information Network. Sales and prices were both above 2018 levels.

Sales data from April 2019 show 203 settled sales, up 18 percent from the same month last year. The median sales price was $184,900, an increase of 13 percent from the previous year.

The number of pending sales shows an even stronger gain: up 47 percent. That could be a sign that the trend of increased sales will continue.

Buyers have fewer homes to choose from, as the number of Hampton homes on the market — or active listings — continues to decline. That’s an indication that homes are not staying on the market long, and that more people are moving in than moving out. The agency reported 581 homes for sale in March; that's down 14.17 percent from a year ago and another record low for the past four years.
