Healthy Families

March 8, 2019 — Staff from the Healthy Start home-visiting program participated in the legislative Advocacy Day on Feb. 14 at the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, Virginia. The representatives from Hampton's Healthy Families Department conveyed the importance of the services the City of Hampton provides through Healthy Families.

The five participants — Patrice Jackson, Amy Wolkowich, Sandy Pabst, Kathy Thomas and Callie Johnson — met with local senators and delegates — Del. Jeion A. Ward, Del. Gordon Helsel Jr., Sen. Mamie E. Locke and Sen. T. Montgomery Mason. The lawmakers welcomed city staff and engaged in thought-provoking conversations on current issues impacting Virginia. Participants also had the opportunity to learn and observe the legislative process in the House and Senate.
