[ARCHIVED] New police chief takes office

Terry Sult, 56, was sworn in as the city’s new police chief Monday, Oct. 7, at a noon ceremony in Council Chambers at City Hall, 22 Lincoln St. The ceremony was broadcast live on the city channel (Cox47 and Fios 23) and is available for viewing online.

Sult is former director of public safety in Sandy Springs, Ga. He was named Hampton chief after a nationwide search. In brief comments after he was sworn in Sult highlighted the importance of community policing and the need for police and citizens to work together.
