[ARCHIVED] National Gridiron League brings arena football, Destroyers to the Hampton Coliseum this spring

Feb. 15, 2019 - Arena Football comes to Hampton this spring when the National Gridiron League and Virginia Destroyers make their debut at the Hampton Coliseum. “We are absolutely delighted the Virginia Destroyers have chosen Hampton and the Hampton Coliseum as their home in the inaugural season of the National Gridiron League,” said Hampton Mayor DonnieTuck. “Hampton has a rich history of football, from winning state championships to placing individuals in professional leagues. I am certain there will be no shortage of enthusiasm and support for our new home team, the Virginia Destroyers.” League President Joe McClendon III said, “we’re very excited to turn this vision into a reality and introduce the National Gridiron League to the U.S., and bring the Virginia Destroyers to the Hampton Coliseum." The destroyers will play eight games at the Coliseum this year, starting Saturday, March 30, at 7:15 p.m. For tickets and more information about the 12-team league, visit www.virginiadestroyers.com.
