Jan. 8, 2019 - Non-profits that offer programs that include positive activities and programs for youth and young adults in the city’s Safe and Clean areas are eligible to apply for mini-grants of up to $20,000.

The goal of the program is to support programs that provide early intervention or violence prevention for youth and young adults, especially those that address employment readiness, trauma, conflict resolution, improving outcomes for black males and re-entry.

Applications will be available Jan. 2, 2019, at www.hampton.gov/youthopportunities and must be turned in by Feb. 12.

An information session for applicants will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Healthy Families building, 100 Old Hampton Lane, in the first-floor conference room. Complete the RSVP form before January 15, 2019

There are two award cycles: Summer programs, funded July 1, 2019; and winter programs, funded Jan. 1, 2020. Organizations must match at least 25 percent of the value of grant funds.

Previous grants have gone to such programs as Community Builders Network’s Summer Youth Leadership Institute; GIRLS Club’s program Developing the Social Learners; and Life Power Music Mentoring.
