Hampton facilities to open Saturday; some trash pickup on Saturday

Closings & Cancellations

Sept. 14, 2018 — Hampton closed all city facilities on Friday, due to predictions of tidal flooding and high winds. Facilities scheduled to open over the weekend will operate on normal schedule.

  • Public Works will resume trash collection on Saturday. Thursday and Friday customers should put their trash toters and bulk items at the curb late Friday, as collections will begin very early on Saturday. We will complete those routes as quickly as we can. However, there will be no recycling pickup because the facility that processes Hampton's recycling is unable to reopen this weekend. Some areas may experience tidal flooding, and we will get to those areas as soon as we can.
  • Buckroe Beach Farmers Market for Saturday, Sept. 15, has been canceled.
  • The Hampton History Museum auditions for Horror Tours scheduled for Sept. 11-12 are rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 17 and Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 5-7 p.m.
