[ARCHIVED] Heat advisory issued, with temperatures expected to hit 95, index of 105

July 2, 2018 - With temperatures expected to hit near 95, and heat index values as high as 105, Hampton residents are encouraged to stay cool and safe Monday. City libraries and community centers will be open for those who need an area to cool down and get water. In addition, the non-profit H.E.L.P. program will be out during the day distributing water.

The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a heat advisory that will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. The advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected.

Hampton's Emergency Management Office said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors to make sure they are safe. Go online for more information on staying safe when the temperature rises.

Emergency Management will continue to monitor the weather and update residents as needed. Residents are also encouraged to monitor local news sources.
