June 22, 2018 - The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch from 4 p.m. this afternoon through the evening as more showers and thunderstorms develop in the area. Hampton's Office of Emergency Management said the coming rain will add to the 2-4 inches of rain that fell across portions of Central Virginia and the Tidewater area Thursday and earlier today.

Heavy rain will result in areas of rapid flooding across the region. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather forecasts and to be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued.

A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Emergency Management will continue to monitor weather conditions.
