[ARCHIVED] Police looking for people to interview residents about new strategy

June 12, 2018 - Hampton police, Newport News police, the National Institute of Justice and others, including the University of Chicago, are looking for people to interview randomly selected residents about a new community-based policing strategy. The strategy is designed to reduce crime and increase public safety while maintaining good community/police relations. Data will be collected Aug. 1, 2018 through the end of October, with a second wave in September 2019 to November 2019. General training would begin July 30, followed by in-person project training on July 31. Training will be held in the Hampton/Newport News area.
